Helpful Hints

THE PHOTO GALLERY

The gallery takes a little practice depending on the device you are using; cellphone, tablet, etc.  To view the photo gallery tap or click on a photo. You may have to tap or click twice. Then the gallery will open up. Each photo may have a description. They will all have, just underneath them, a way to view the full size photo and a way to make comments about a photo. Feel free.

WEB BROWSER

  • It seems that web browsers tend to remember the last time you visited a site.
  • They do this to reduce browsing time by mostly displaying your last visit.
  • To make sure you are viewing the newest photos and posts, refresh the page on first going to this website.  This sometimes also applies when selecting a menu item for the first time on a particular visit.
  • On a windows PC do Ctrl/F5
  • on Apple tap the circle arrow at the end of the URL address
  • Blame this on browser competition.  Not much of a hassle though.

JOURNEY MAP

If you zoom into the markers on the map and click on a particular map pin it describes the location, but maybe more importantly it lists the distance in kilometers from the beginning of the Camino in St Jean Pied de Port, France. These can be used, as we will, to determine our daily progress.

TRANSLATOR

If you use the Google translate icon then to return to English you should see a banner at the top of the page with an icon to return to the original. If no banner is displayed then go back to translate and select English. Why is it there? Well, it’s fun to play with but mostly for foreign perigrinos we meet on the trail who might be interested in viewing photos and comments we may post with their permission. In that respect you will notice when first logging in that this site collects cookies. These are harmless but displaying this notice is required in the European Union.
