Todays hike was shorter on purpose. We wanted to get to a larger town with a Post Office. Why? So we could ship our extra boots back home. Nancy convinced me that packing that extra weight was dumb. I wanted them for the cold wet October trail through the mountains of Galicia. But we can’t be sure they will be cold and wet. So we found the Post Office in Puente de la Reina, boxed them up and expedited them home to Caitlin.
I loved those boots. Hand made by a string of computerized robots in Bulgaria. The top of the line. Sine Qua Non. Probably got that spelled wrong. But no better boots are made anywhere. Pfffft! Gone. Gosh, my pack seems so much lighter.
We troopered on to a really nice albergue chosen because it was also the albergue on the west side of Puente de la Reina. That way we could claim more miles for this day.
We have a nice but small bunk room to ourselves so we don’t have to listen to rustling and snoring all night long. Just our own. No FAN or A/C but a nice view and breeze and it’s on the north side of the building. Communal supper will be served in 30 minutes.
